Common hall
The common hall[1][2] or Common Hall[3] is a great timbered feast hall for the Night's Watch at Castle Black.[4]

Layout
The immense longhall[5] is drafty even when a fire burns in its great hearth.[1] Crows nest in the lofty ceiling timbers.[1] Hobb prepares meals for the members of the Night's Watch,[6] and black brothers often drink mulled wine in the hall.[7][8]

A Game of Thrones
Jon Snow takes his meals in the common hall.[1][7] Jon introduces Samwell Tarly to Ghost in the hall.[7]
Jon learns from Pypar about the death of King Robert I Baratheon. When Ser Alliser Thorne mocks Jon about the arrest of Eddard Stark, Jon leaps onto a table and has to be restrained from attacking Alliser by his friends.[6]
A Storm of Swords
During the attack on Castle Black by wildlings, Jon sees the common hall's doors on fire, and then the timbered keep itself burns.[4]
A Dance with Dragons
Since the common hall has burned to the ground, the Night's Watch take their meals in one of the vaults of Castle Black, a stone cellar below the armory.[9]
