A friend of Garth's, Alf of Runnymudd, breaks down at the news, and Hobb is ordered by Jon to get Alf to bed and give him mulled wine.[4]

Clydas: Brothers who want him out of the kitchens?[3]

Bowen: Who better to command the black cloaks than a man who once commanded the gold, sire?
