A Clash of Kings
Enger, Long Lew, and Delp are on duty at the River Gate when Tyrion Lannister's plot to free Jaime Lannister is carried out.[1] A mummer, imitating Ser Edmure Tully's voice, orders the River Gate to be opened, fooling all three of them, who raise the portcullis. The escape is only stopped because Long Lew sees that Ser Edmure is returning in a boat, so he could not be below giving orders to open the gate. The three of them, with the help of more House Tully guards, managed to recapture the Kingslayer, albeit Delp is grievously wounded.[1]
A Storm of Swords
Both of his companions, Long Lew and Delp, are listed as guardmen at Riverrun, along with a Elwood, but Enger is oddly left out,[2] which might indicate that he actually did not survive the fight against Jaime, dying days later from his wounds. As Enger was not injured by Jaime, then these wounds certainly came from the red cloaks who rushed to join the Kingslayer at the sound of fighting before being all subdued.
