The kitchen of the Nightfort is where food used to be prepared at the abandoned castle of Nightfort.
Layout
The kitchen of the Nightfort is a stone octagon with a broken dome that contains a huge central well which descends into the earth. A skinny and twisted weirwood has grown through a hole in the kitchen's slate floor.[1]
Hidden in the kitchen's well, the Black Gate is a magical subterranean gate that allows passage to the other side of the Wall and is as old as the Wall itself.[1]

Reaching the Nightfort, Bran Stark, Meera and Jojen Reed, Hodor, and Summer sleep that night in its kitchen, near a seemingly bottomless well. Deep in the night, Bran is woken by footsteps coming from the well, so he awakens Meera, and then slips into the mind of the sleeping Hodor, forcing him to arm himself with one of the iron swords they took from the crypts of Winterfell. However, it turns out to be Samwell Tarly, a man of the Night's Watch, and Gilly, carrying her infant son. Sam then opens the Black Gate so Bran and his companions can cross the wall to meet Coldhands.[1]
