Maegor Towers was the Lord of Harrenhal and the head of House Towers during the early reign of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen. Named after King Maegor I Targaryen, he was the last of his line.[1]

Maegor was a sickly and impoverished young lord.[1]
History
Born in 44 AC to Lord Jordan Towers, Maegor was named after King Maegor I Targaryen,[1] who had granted his grandsire, Ser Walton Towers, the lordship of Harrenhal that same year. Lord Jordan was a staunch supporter of the king and one of the last lords of the Seven Kingdoms who remained loyal to Maegor when the great lords of the realm flocked to Prince Jaehaerys.[2] Lord Jordan was one of the few lords that remained at the Red Keep to turn it over to Jaehaerys,[1] and he was pardoned in exchange for certain holdings and for sending the young Maegor to court to serve as a hostage.[3]
As his elder brothers died in King Maegor's wars, the young Maegor became Lord of Harrenhal after his father passed away from a chest congestion.[1] When King Jaehaerys began a royal progress in 53 AC with his dragon Vermithor to celebrate the new year, his first stop was to see the new Lord of Harrenhal, then only nine years of age.[4]
In a castle built to house thousands, Maegor was an impoverished lord who resided in the Tower of Dread with only a cook and three elderly men-at-arms. Since the rest of Harrenhal was empty, King Jaehaerys settled his widowed sister, Princess Rhaena Targaryen, in the Widow's Tower in 56 AC. Maegor and Rhaena eventually became friends, and she cared for his servants after Maegor passed away in 61 AC.[1] As Maegor was last of his line with no heirs,[5] Harrenhal was granted to House Strong after Rhaena passed away in 73 AC.[1]
