Bakkalon, also known as the Pale Child and called Bakkalon of the Sword, is a god of death worshipped in Essos, including Asshai,[1] Braavos,[2] and Lys.[3]

[edit]After entering the House of Black and White in Braavos for the first time, Arya Stark notices the statue of a pale infant with a sword.[4] The statue of Bakkalon is most commonly visited by soldiers.[2]

Tyrion Lannister mentions the Pale Child to Penny during the second siege of Meereen as another name for death.[5]
Behind the Scenes
[edit]Bakkalon is a god in George R. R. Martin's "Thousand Worlds" science fiction universe. In Martin's 1975 short story "And Seven Times Never Kill Man", the deity is worshiped by the Steel Angels, a military-religious sect.
