Palla is a kennel girl at Winterfell.[1] She is the daughter of Farlen.
In the television adaptation Game of Thrones, Palla is portrayed by Joy Carleton.
Recent Events
A Clash of Kings
Palla plays lord of the crossing with House Stark's wards, Big Walder and Little Walder Frey, along with Turnip, Bandy, Shyra, Calon, and TomToo. During the game, they all get soaked and muddy; Palla gets mud all over herself, and moss in her hair, but laughs so hard she loses her breath.[1]
When Winterfell is captured by ironborn raiders led by Theon Greyjoy, Palla is raped by Drennan and another ironman. Theon has the people of Winterfell brought to the Great Hall so they can hear Bran Stark yield the castle. Bran sees Palla enter the room, walking in pain with a ripped dress she struggles to hold together, supported by her limping father, Farlen.[2] Theon has the two rapists whipped for raping Palla.[3]
After Bran and Rickon Stark escape from the castle, Theon forces Farlen and his dogs to accompany his search party by threatening Palla's safety.[3] After three of Theon's men who had been part of the search party die mysteriously, Theon uses Farlen as a scapegoat and executes him.[4]
"Reek" offers to help Theon by taking a large sum of money to the Dreadfort and returning with much-needed reinforcement, to which Theon reluctantly agrees. When Theon asks Reek what he wants as his reward, Reek names Palla. Thinking that he cannot back out of the deal now, Theon says if Reek returns with two hundred men as promised, then Palla is his.[4]
Reek returns with House Bolton's garrison and destroys the army attempting to retake Winterfell, then reveals himself to Theon as actually Ramsay Snow, bastard son of Lord Roose Bolton. Theon tells Harrag to bring Palla, but Ramsay replies that he would rather have Theon's bedwarmer Kyra. When Theon protests, Ramsay strikes him with his armored fist, shattering Theon's cheekbone and knocking him to the ground, and begins the sack of Winterfell.[5]
A Storm of Swords
The sack of Winterfell is blamed on Theon's ironborn, who allegedly killed many of Winterfell's people. Lady Catelyn Stark is heartsick at the thought of the deaths of so many, including Palla, but she is told that Ramsay Snow took the women and children to the safety of the Dreadfort.[6]
A Feast for Crows
Palla remains among the women of Winterfell held captive at the Dreadfort, alongside Beth Cassel, Kyra, Turnip, Bandy, Shyra, and Old Nan.[7]
