Meris is near six feet tall and has blond hair. She is earless, with a slit nose and scars crossing both her cheeks. She is said to have cold dead eyes, like two grey stones.
Meris dresses all in mail and carries a crossbow. There is talk that underneath her shirt only scars are left by the men who cut off her breasts.
Old Bill Bone says that Meris can stretch out a man's dying for a moon's turn.
Originally from Westeros, Meris has been with the free companies for twenty years. She was reportedly raped by half the members of a sellsword company.
Meris eventually joined the Windblown, and now serves as the company's torturer.
A Dance with Dragons
Meris and the Windblown participate in the siege of Astapor. The Tattered Prince sends her along with several dozen Westerosi members of the company to secretly go over to Daenerys Targaryen; the captain does not have faith in the Yunkish commanders and wants to ensure the Windblown will be on the winning side. Meris is displeased when Dick Straw mentions he has slept with her several times.
Meris is arrested with the other Windblown when Prince Quentyn Martell reveals to Daenerys the intentions of the Tattered Prince. Daenerys eventually orders that Meris be released as a gesture of her regard and brought back to the Tattered Prince, stating to Ser Barristan Selmy that if the Tattered Prince is a clever man he will understand her gesture. Meris tells Barristan that the Tattered Prince has wanted to betray Yunkai from the beginning, and the captain decided to join Daenerys in the hopes she will grant him Pentos.
Meris is present when the Tattered Prince meets with Quentyn and his two companions, Ser Gerris Drinkwater and Ser Archibald Yronwood, at the Purple Lotus.
Quentyn hires the Windblown to try and capture one of Daenerys's dragons, and Meris forces some Brazen Beasts to give them their daily code word. Meris and the rest of the men flee when they see how dangerous Viserion and Rhaegal are and that they cannot be reliably controlled.
Quotes by Meris
You were told your scheme was madness, have you forgotten? Do what you came to do.—Meris to Quentyn Martell
Quotes about Meris
Pretty Meris frightened him. A Westerosi woman, but taller than he was, just a thumb under six feet. After twenty years amongst the free companies, there was nothing pretty about her, inside or out.—thoughts of Quentyn Martell
Quentyn: How did you learn their word?
Tattered Prince: We chanced upon some Brazen Beasts and Meris asked them prettily. But a prince should know better than to pose such questions, Dornish. In Pentos, we have a saying. Never ask the baker what went into the pie. Just eat.—Quentyn Martell and the Tattered Prince
