Robyn Rhysling was a knight from House Rhysling during the reign of King Daeron II Targaryen.[2] In the television adaptation A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, he is portrayed by William Houston.

Appearance

Robyn was a grizzled old knight with a salt-and-pepper beard and a missing eye.[2]

History

Ser Robyn lost an eye to a splinter from a broken lance in 204 AC.[2]

During the tourney at Ashford Meadow in 209 AC, Robyn challenged Lord Leo Tyrell to a tilt. Robyn lost his helm to Leo Longthorn's lance in their first course, but refused to yield. Three times more they rode at each other, yet Leo was too chivalrous to aim at Robyn's head. Finally, the Lord of Highgarden struck Robyn's breastplate and sent him to the ground.[2]

Prince Aegon Targaryen brought Robyn to Ser Duncan the Tall's side during the trial of seven, having known him from previous tourneys. Robyn knocked Prince Daeron Targaryen from his horse and also fought one of the Kingsguard.[2]

Quotes

Three times more, they rode at each other, the wind whipping Ser Robyn's hair while the shards of broken lances flew round his bare face like wooden knives, which Dunk thought all the more wondrous when Egg told him that Ser Robyn had lost his eye to a splinter from a broken lance not five years earlier. Leo Tyrell was too chivalrous to aim another lance at Ser Robyn's unprotected head, but even so Rhysling's stubborn courage (or was it folly?) left Dunk astounded.[2]
