Rolph Spicer is a knight from House Spicer and is the castellan of the Crag for House Westerling. He is the brother of Sybell Spicer and grandson of Maggy the Frog.

Rolph is a square man, with a broken nose and a grey, close-shaven beard.

A Storm of Swords

Ser Rolph serves as castellan of the Crag, where his sister, Sybell Spicer, is lady of the castle. With Sybell's husband, Lord Gawen Westerling, a captive at Seagard, Rolph yields the castle to Robb Stark, King in the North, during the storming of the Crag. Jeyne Westerling, Sybell's elder daughter, treats Robb's wounds after the battle, and the two youths sleep together after Robb learns of the alleged deaths of Robb's younger brothers, Bran and Rickon, at Winterfell. Robb chooses to wed Jeyne, thereby breaking his alliance with House Frey. Sybell begins providing a posset to Jeyne each morning, claiming it will make her fertile.

Ser Rolph comes to Riverrun as part of Robb's retinue when the king departs the westerlands. When Catelyn Stark, Robb's mother, learns that his direwolf, Grey Wind, does not like Rolph, she urges that Robb send the knight away.

Rolph and his nephew, Ser Raynald Westerling, are in attendance at Riverrun when Lord Rickard Karstark is brought before the king after murdering Tion Frey and Willem Lannister. Rolph offers his consolations to Robb after the death of the king's grandfather, Lord Hoster Tully. Robb eventually sends Rolph to deliver Martyn Lannister to the Golden Tooth in exchange for the freeing of Robett Glover.

Robb sets off to the Twins for the wedding of Lord Edmure Tully and Roslin Frey. Robb and Catleyn are betrayed and murdered by the Freys and Boltons at the Red Wedding, however.

According to a semi-canon source, Rolph and Sybell had conspired with the Lannisters to trick Robb into marrying Jeyne. In the aftermath of the Red Wedding, Rolph is raised to the rank of lord by the Iron Throne and is given the lands and incomes of Castamere.

A Feast for Crows

After resolving the siege of Riverrun, Ser Jaime Lannister reminds Sybell that the Westerlings had been pardoned and that Rolph had been named Lord of Castamere. Sybell reveals that Lord Tywin Lannister had additionally promised worthy marriages for her children during their discrete negotiations.
