Septon Raynard is a follower of the Faith of the Seven. He is stationed in King's Landing.[1] He is of the Most Devout.[2]
Recent Events
A Feast for Crows
Septon Raynard informed the small council that there was upwards of two thousand sparrows within King's Landing and more arriving each day. He is among the two leading possibilities to replace the deceased High Septon.[3] Queen Cersei came to visit Septon Raynard and Septon Torbert at the Great Sept of Baelorand found Septon Raynard on his knees cleaning the floor. The new High Septon claimed that doing work was pleasing to the Smith.[4]
When the High Speton began preaching against the brothels in King's Landing, Cersei summoned him to court to stop as the brothels were a valued source of income for the crown. Instead the High Sparrow sent Raynard with an escort of six Warrior's Sons. Raynard repeated the High Septons words on the sinfulness of brothels which Cersei Lannister thought hypocritical since she knew Raynard had "special friends" in half the brothels on the Street of Silk.
