Baelon Targaryen was the second born son of King Viserys I Targaryen and his wife, Queen Aemma Arryn. Aemma died giving birth to him. He was named after his grandfather, prince Baelon Targaryen. Baelon died one day after his birth.
While the court was grieving and bereft over the deaths of Baelon and Aemma, Prince Daemon Targaryen was observed in the Street of Silk with his highborn cronies, making drunken japes about the "heir for a day".
When word of this reached Viserys he became livid and named Rhaenyra Targaryen his heir to spite his ungrateful and callous brothers ambition. [1]
