The "pitchfork knight" is a knight from House Haigh who rode in the tourney at Harrenhal. His given name is unknown.

Character

The pitchfork knight was not well loved by the commons.[1]

History

A knight of House Haigh,[2] "the pitchfork knight," attended the tourney at Harrenhal with his squire. His squire attacked Howland Reed with two other squires. After the pitchfork knight earned a spot among the champions on the second day of the tourney, a mystery knight known as the Knight of the Laughing Tree challenged and defeated the pitchfork knight and the two other knights whose squires took part in the attack. The commons cheered because the pitchfork knight was not well loved, and the Knight instructed him to teach his squire honor when he attempted to ransom his horse and armor.[1]

Recent Events

A Storm of Swords

Meera Reed tells Bran Stark the tale of the Knight of the Laughing Tree, including the pitchfork knight's defeat at the Knight of the Laughing Tree's hands.[1]
