House Mormont

House Mormont of Bear Island is an old house from the North, proud an honorable. Long in service of House Stark from Winterfell, they were given the lordship over the Bear Island when Rodrik Stark won it in a wrestling match.

Their blason is a a black bear over a green wood. Their motto has not appeared in the books, but in correspondence with fans the author has stated it as «Here we stand».

The Mormont House at the end of the third century

Lady Maege Mormont: Lady of the Bear Island. A short, stout and grey-haired woman who uses to dress mail.
- Dacey Mormont: Her older daughter. Heir to the Bear Island. A tall young woman dressed in mail.
- Alysane Mormont: Her daughter.
- Lyra Mormont: Her daughter.
- Jorelle Mormont: Her daughter.
- Lyanna Mormont: Her daughter.
- Lord Jeor Mormont: Her older brother. Lord of Bear Island until he choose to take the black. Now Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. Called the Old Bear.
  - Ser Jorah Mormont: An exiled knight. Lord of Bear Island until sentenced to death for selling poachers.
    - Lysene Hightower: His wife. She abandoned him after his disgrace, an now is a chief concubine of a Lysene merchant.
