Humfrey Beesbury was a knight from House Beesbury during the reign of King Daeron II Targaryen. His brother by marriage was Ser Humfrey Hardyng.[1][N 1]
Appearance and Character
Ser Humfrey was a young bold knight. In the lists, he wore yellow and black stripes clothing with three beehives depicted on his shield.[1]
History
Ser Humfrey participated in the tourney at Ashford Meadow in 209 AC where he jousted against Ser Humfrey Hardyng. They broke twelve lances in what was considered the best fought battle of the day, which the smallfolk soon began calling "the Battle of Humfrey". Humfrey Hardyng won the struggle and remained in the competition as a champion.[1]
The two Humfreys joined the side of Ser Duncan the Tall in the trial of seven. He was slain by Ser Donnel of Duskendale of the Kingsguard in the first pass.[1]
Notes
- ↑ I hoped Hardyng would want another chance at Aerion, and he did. As it happens, the other Humfrey is his brother by marriage.
The wording of this sentence from the text is ambiguous and leaves two possibilities for the identity of the woman linking the two Humfreys. Either she was Beesbury's sister married to Hardyng or Hardyng's sister married to Beesbury.
