A Dance with Dragons
Barristan considers him a fierce fighter, but thinks it will be years before he masters the sword and lance. He does not approve of Larraq's fighting style, but admits to himself that there is no doubting his skills with his whip and trident. At first Barristan warns him that the whip would be useless against an armored foe. Barristan changes his mind after seeing how Larraq uses it, however, snapping it around the legs of his opponent to yank them off their feet. He considers Larraq and Tumco Lho his best squires.
