Olyvar Frey is the eighteenth son of Lord Walder Frey, the fourth with his sixth wife Bethany Rosby.[2] He is a passionate and anxious young man.

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

Robb Stark takes Olyvar as a squire as part of the pact sealed between Catelyn Stark and Lord Walder to join the Freys to the Stark cause in the War of the Five Kings.[3] Two years older than Robb, Olyvar is considered an excellent squire who proves his devotion to Robb and the Starks. He fights by Robb's side in the Battle of the Whispering Wood.

A Clash of Kings

Olyvar is beside Robb Stark when he presents his terms concerning peace with the Iron Throne to Ser Cleos Frey. [4]

A Storm of Swords

When the Freys abandon Robb's cause after his marriage to Jeyne Westerling, Olyvar wishes to stay with him but the other members of his family force him to return.[5] Catelyn Stark expects Olyvar to attend his sister Roslin's marriage to Edmure Tully,[6] but Ryman Frey claims that Olyvar could not attend because he was "on duty", so he is not present for the Red Wedding. Catelyn remembers Olyvar as being "devoted to her son",[5] and it is possible that the other Freys kept him away due to his friendship with Robb.
