Lord Arstan sends men to support King Renly Baratheon during the War of the Five Kings.[3]
A Dance with Dragons
Ser Barristan Selmy tells Daenerys Targaryen he briefly considered returning to Harvest Hall after his dismissal from the Kingsguard by King Joffrey I Baratheon as he knew he would be welcomed by his relatives. Not wanting to inflict Joffrey's displeasure on them, he chose to find his true king and die in his service instead.[4]
