Dragonking refers to Kings of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men who came from House Targaryen, who were once a family of dragonlords and who took a red three-headed dragon as their sigil.[1]
History
[edit]The Targaryens were once dragonlords who rode dragons. Aegon the Conqueror and his sister, Visenya and Rhaenys, used their dragons during the Conquest, which led to the family ruling as Kings of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men from the Iron Throne in King's Landing.[2]
The Targaryens continued to be called dragonkings even after the death of the last dragon.[3] They were eventually overthrown by House Baratheon through Robert's Rebellion.[4]
