Gendry's mother was a tavern wench[1] from King's Landing who was the mother of Gendry. Her given name is unknown.

Appearance

The woman had yellow hair.[2]

History

The woman worked in an alehouse[2] and would bring home drunks from the establishment.[3] She had a black-haired bastard named Gendry with King Robert I Baratheon,[2] though she never revealed to the boy the identity of his father.[3] She sometimes sang to Gendry but died when the boy was little.[2]

Lord Jon Arryn asked Gendry about his mother during the Hand of the King's investigation into the parentage of Robert's various children.[2]

Quotes

Eddard: Gendry, when Lord Arryn came to see you, what did you talk about?
Gendry: He asked me questions is all, m'lord.
Eddard: What sort of questions?
Gendry: How was I, and was I well treated, and if I liked the work, and stuff about my mother. Who she was and what she looked like and all.
Eddard: What did you tell him?
Gendry: She died when I was little. She had yellow hair, and sometimes she used to sing to me, I remember. She worked in an alehouse.[2]

At least your father raised his bastard, not like mine. I don't even know my father's name. Some smelly drunk, I'd wager, like the others my mother dragged home from the alehouse. Whenever she got mad at me, she'd say, 'If your father was here, he'd beat you bloody.' That's all I know of him.[3]

Brienne: Is your mother still alive? And your father, who was he?
Gendry: You ask too many questions. My mother's dead and I never knew my father.[4]
