Lem was a peasant sworn to House Osgrey.[2]
Appearance and Character
Lem was nearly fifty years old. He snored.[2]
Ser Eustace Osgrey frequently confused the name of Dake, of one of his other peasants, with Lem's.[2]
History
After being trained by Ser Eustace Osgrey's sons with other peasants from his lands, Lem went off to fight for House Osgrey during the Blackfyre Rebellion. He was one of the only three surviving men that returned with Ser Eustace, along with Dake and Pate. Lem brought back a knife and a fine pair of boots from the war. The boots were too small to fit him, so he hung them on his wall for display.[2]
The Sworn Sword
Lem was among the smallfolk called up by Ser Eustace Osgrey to defend his lands against House Webber when a dispute over the Chequy Water escalated into threats of war. Lem brought a sharpened stick that served as a primitive spear, and was trained for battle by Eustace's sworn swords, Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield and Ser Duncan the Tall. After the first day of training, Duncan had a nightmare that all the men had been killed and he had to bury them.[2]
After Ser Duncan realized that it would be a hopeless fight where all the smallfolk would certainly die, he sent Lem home with the others.[2]
