Masha Heddle's grandfather is a member of the Heddle family who served as the innkeeper for the inn at the crossroads[1]
History
His ancestor Ser Jon Heddle, known as Long Jon, was a knight in the 1st century AC who took over the old inn at the crossroads.[1]
Eventually, he took over the family business, which became known as the River Inn, since the Trident flowed beneath its back door and half its rooms were built out over the water. It was said that the inn's guests could throw a line out their window and catch fish. There was also a ferry landing at the inn, where travelers could cross to Lord Harroway's Town and Whitewalls. However, the river moved some seventy to eighty years before the War of the Five Kings (220–230 AC), when he was the innkeeper, so the ferry landing at the crossroads inn was abandoned.[1]
