The mill by the Weeping Water is found along the Weeping Water near the Dreadfort.[1]

History

Roose Bolton, Lord of the Dreadfort, came upon the mill while foxhunting along the Weeping Water. Having learned that the old miller had married without Roose's permission, thereby denying him the lord's supposed claim to the first night, Roose hanged the miller and raped his young wife, impregnating her.[1]

After the miller's wife gave birth to a boy with pale eyes, she was beaten by the miller's brother and driven away from the mill. The woman fled with her babe to the Dreadfort. When Lord Bolton saw that the child's eyes matched his own, he decided to grant the mill to the miller's wife and had the tongue of the miller's brother cut out. Roose gave piglets, chickens and a bag of stars to the wife each year under the condition that she never reveal the boy's true father. The miller's wife disobeyed, however, and eventually requested a servant to help with the wild and unruly child.[1]
