A prophet is a person believed to be in contact with a deity or deities and to speak on their behalf.

History

In the Iron Islands the priests of the Drowned God act as prophets. According to Maester Yandel, the greatest of these was Galon Whitestaff.[1]

In the Dance of the Dragons, during the Moon of the Three Kings, mad prophets ruled the streets of King's Landing along with mummer kings and gutter knights.[2] One of these was known only as the Shepherd.[3]

After nearly drowning in a storm and washing up ashore, safely and unharmed, Aeron Greyjoy underwent a spiritual reawakening, and dedicated himself as a priest of the Drowned God and prophet.[4]
