Roland Waynwood is a knight of House Waynwood. He is a grandson of Anya Waynwood, the Lady of Ironoaks. Roland appears to be the son of Anya's heir, Ser Morton Waynwood.[N 1]
Appearance and Character
Long-faced and lantern-jawed, Roland has stringy brown hair and a pinched nose. Sansa Stark considers him to be horse-faced and homely. Roland is taller and more muscular than his uncle, Wallace Waynwood.[1]
The charming Roland is proud of his knighthood.[1]
Recent Events
The Winds of Winter
Ser Roland accompanies his grandmother Lady Anya Waynwood, his younger uncle, Ser Wallace Waynwood and his cousin, Ser Harrold Hardyng to the Gates of the Moon to participate in the tourney to be held there to choose the Brotherhood of Winged Knights. Roland flirts with Myranda Royce and Alayne Stone and jests with Wallace.[1]
Alayne dances with Roland at the feast that evening. Roland makes the girl laugh by making mocking comments about other knights in attendance.[1]
Quotes
Roland: I had heard that Lord Littlefinger's daughter was fair of face and full of grace, but no one ever told me that she was a thief.
Alayne: You wrong me, ser. I am no thief!
Roland:Then how do you explain this hole in my chest, from where you stole my heart?
Wallace: He is only t-teasing you, my lady. My n-n-nephew never had a h-h-heart.[1]—Roland, Alayne Stone, and Wallace Waynwood

Notes
- ↑ According to the Alayne sample chapter from The Winds of Winter, Roland is the grandson of Lady Anya Waynwood and the nephew of Ser Wallace Waynwood, Anya's third son. Unless one of Anya's daughters married a Waynwood, this only leaves Anya's two oldest sons as Roland's progenitor. Since the second oldest son, Ser Donnel Waynwood, was born in either 278 or 277 AC (see Donnel Waynwood), and Roland was born in or between 274 AC and 281 AC (see Roland Waynwood), it would be impossible for Roland to have been Donnel's son, leaving only Morton.
