Willis Wode is a knight from House Wode in the service of House Whent.[1] He is possibly one of the brothers Wode who are landed knights sworn to House Whent of Harrenhal.[3]
In the television adaptation Game of Thrones, Willis is portrayed by Ryan McKenna.
Appearance and Character
Stiff-necked and stolid,[4] Willis is an older man[5] whom Tyrion Lannister thinks of as a hedge knight.[4]
The black bat of House Whent of Harrenhal is embroidered on Willis's surcoat.[5] The knight wields a spiked morningstar, and his helmet has a thin slit for his eyes and a long black silk plume.[4]

A Game of Thrones
When Catelyn Stark takes Tyrion Lannister prisoner at the inn at the crossroads, Ser Willis is the first of the rivermen to proclaim his loyalty to House Tully and aid Catelyn.[5][4]
Catelyn decides to bring Tyrion to the Eyrie instead of Winterfell.[4] When Catelyn's party is attacked by mountain clansmen on the high road, Morrec helps Willis with his armor when Marillion is too frightened to assist. Willis cries out "Harrenhal!" as he rides against the wildings. Catelyn wishes to bury the dead after the battle, but Willis urges that they continue their journey through the dangerous Mountains of the Moon instead of delaying.[4]
Willis is the only one of the rivermen to survive the journey to the Vale of Arryn. He and Ser Rodrik Cassel remain at the Bloody Gate to have their wounds treated by a septon while Catelyn continues on with Tyrion to the Gates of the Moon.[6]
Willis and Rodrik continue on to the Eyrie, and Willis chuckles when Tyrion publicly demands a trial by combat.[7] His whereabouts after Tyrion leaves the Eyrie[8] are unknown.
A Feast for Crows
On the journey to resolve the siege of Riverrun, Ser Jaime Lannister and his host come across the lands once held by the brothers Wode, two landed knights sworn to Harrenhal: it is possible that one of them is Ser Willis. Jaime encounters neither member of the Wode family or their smallfolk but finds both of their timber keeps burned down, and he hangs several outlaws taking shelter in the cellar beneath one of the ruined halls.[3]
