Jon Heddle, better known as Long Jon Heddle, was a knight who owned the Crossroads Inn.

Jon was crippled.

History

Long Jon Heddle took over the inn at the crossroads when he retired from adventuring. He also took up ironworking, and forged a sign in the shape of a three-headed dragon. The black iron sign would clank in the wind, and gave his inn its new name, the Clanking Dragon.

In 196 AC, when Long Jon's son was an old man, the First Blackfyre Rebellion broke out. Lord Darry, who was a fierce Targaryen supporter, saw the inn's sign and thought it resembled the coat of arms of the rebels (a three-headed black dragon on a red field), so he cut it down and hacked it to pieces.

The inn at the crossroads remained in the hands of Jon Heddle's descendants for several generations, including his son and later Masha Heddle's grandfather.

One of his descendants, Masha Heddle, told the tale of Jon Heddle and his family's connection to the inn to Septon Meribald, who himself passed it along to Brienne of Tarth, Ser Hyle Hunt, and Podrick Payne.
