Recent Events

A Feast for Crows

During the kingsmoot on Old Wyk to succeed Balon Greyjoy, King of the Isles and the North, Lord Farwynd puts his name forth with his sons Gyles, Ygon, and Yohn as his champions. Gylbert promises to lead the ironborn to a land without winter beyond the Sunset Sea where death holds no sway and every man will be a king and his wife a queen. His gifts of sealskins, walrus tusks, whalebone arm rings, and bronze-banded warhorns are considered poor by the captains, however, and are left for lesser men. Gylbert's claim is dismissed quickly, with not even all of the Farwynds supporting him.[1]

Quotes by Gylbert

We will build ten thousand ships as Nymeria once did and take sail with all our people to the land beyond the sunset. There every man shall be a king and every wife a queen.[1]

—Gylbert at the kingsmoot on Old Wyk

Quotes about Gylbert

His eyes, Aeron saw, were now grey, now blue, as changeable as the seas. Mad eyes, he thought, fool's eyes. The vision he spoke of was doubtless a snare set by the Storm God to lure the ironborn to destruction.[1]
