The Archon's daughter was the daughter of the Archon of Tyrosh during the reign of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen.[2] She was the wife of Ser Orryn Baratheon.[3] Her given name is unknown.
Appearance and Character
The Archon's daughter was comely and buxom. She dyed her hair blue-green and wore it in long tresses. She was witty and liked to flirt, and had a "delightful accent" when speaking the Common Tongue.[2]
History
In 49 AC, the maiden came to King's Landing at the age of fifteen with her father, the Archon of Tyrosh, to attend the Golden Wedding. After the wedding, Lord Rogar Baratheon proposed to the other members of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen's small council that she wed the young king, in order to forge an alliance with Tyrosh and extend the power of the Iron Throne to Essos. However, Queen Regent Alyssa Velaryon argued that the smallfolk of Westeros would never accept a foreign woman with dyed hair as their queen. She felt a Tyroshi, who kept foreign gods, would also be strongly opposed by those pious to the Faith of the Seven. She had her own ideal candidates for Jaehaerys's bride, which other council members opposed, proposing their own suggestions as they argued for a month without reaching a consensus.[2]
In 50 AC, King Jaehaerys sentenced Ser Orryn Baratheon to a ten-year exile for attempting to kidnap Princess Rhaella Targaryen. Orryn entered the service of the Archon in Tyrosh, and the following year he married the Archon's daughter. She soon gave birth to a girl, although some doubted that Orryn was the father.[3]
