[edit]Grief is among the ships that make the voyage to the kingsmoot on Old Wyk. During the kingsmoot, Lord Captain Victarion Greyjoy orders Grief and Iron Vengeance to lie between Silence and the open sea.[2]
After the taking of the Shields, Lord Victarion keeps Grief, Lord Dagon, Iron Wind, and Maiden's Bane as part of his rearguard, commanding from his own ship, Iron Victory.[3]
A Dance with Dragons
[edit]Grief is the fifty-fourth and last ironborn ship to arrive at the Isle of Cedars while the Iron Fleet regroups on their way to Slaver's Bay. The crew has rescued Moqorro from the water, and the Vole presents the red priest to Victarion on Iron Victory.[1]
