Jon Tollett was a knight from House Tollett and a member of the Kingsguard during the reign of King Maegor I Targaryen.[1]
Character
Queen Alyssa Velaryon regarded Jon Tollet and his fellow Kingsguard knights as "old men, lickspittles, cravens, and brutes".[2]
History
Ser Jon served as a knight of the Kingsguard during King Maegor I Targaryen's reign. In 48 AC, Maegor was found mysteriously slain on the Iron Throne; some attributed his death to knights of his own Kingsguard, as two knights were posted outside the door of the Iron Throne.[3]
With his uncle dead, the new young king Jaehaerys I Targaryen arrested Maegor's surviving Kingsguard and imprisoned them in the black cells with the rest of Maegor's court. Jaehaerys had intended to sentence Maegor's surviving Kingsguard to death, deciding that they had failed in their duties by allowing their king to die. However, at the urging of Princess Alysanne Targaryen, the knights were given the choice of death or taking the black. Jon chose the latter.[1]
