Olyvar Frey is a member of House Frey. He is the eighteenth son of Lord Walder Frey, the fourth with his sixth wife, Bethany Rosby.[2]

Young Olyvar is anxious[3] but loyal.[4][5]

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

Robb Stark takes Olyvar as a squire as part of the pact sealed between Catelyn Stark and Lord Walder Frey at the Twins to join the Freys to the Stark cause in the War of the Five Kings.[6] Two years older than Robb, Olyvar is considered an excellent squire who proves his devotion to Robb and the Starks. He is part of Robb's battle guard in the battle in the Whispering Wood.[3]

A Clash of Kings

Olyvar is beside Robb when he presents his terms concerning peace with the Iron Throne to Ser Cleos Frey.[7]

A Storm of Swords

When the Freys abandon Robb's cause after his marriage to Jeyne Westerling, Olyvar wishes to stay with him at the Crag. The other members of his family force him to return to the Twins, however.[4] Rollam Westerling becomes Robb's new squire.[8]

Catelyn expects Olyvar to attend his sister Roslin's marriage at the Twins to Lord Edmure Tully.[8] Ser Ryman Frey claims that Olyvar cannot attend because of duty, however, and Olyvar is not present for the Red Wedding. Catelyn remembers Olyvar as being "devoted to her son",[5] and it is possible that the other Freys kept him away due to his friendship with Robb.

Robb: I'd hoped to ask Olyvar to squire for me when we march north, but I do not see him here. Would he be at the other feast?
Ryman: Olyvar? No. Not Olyvar. Gone ... gone from the castles. Duty.[5]

Olyvar might be the unnamed ward of Lord Gyles Rosby. Given that Olyvar's mother, Lady Bethany, was born a Rosby,[2] it's possible this unnamed ward is one of Bethany's children. In this case, Ser Perwyn being present at the siege of Riverrun,[9], Ser Benfrey being dead at the Red Wedding[10] and Willamen being the maester at Longbow Hall in the Vale of Arryn,[11] this leaves only Olyvar as the last remaining possibility.
