The founder of House Spicer was a wealthy merchant born to Maggy the Frog.[1]

History

His father was trading saffron and pepper in Essos when he met and married his mother, a Maegi whom he brought to Westeros.[2] Some claim that she enchanted him with a spell, though more likely she only needed her sexual charms.[1] No one could pronounce her real name, so this witch woman soon became known as Maggy the Frog or simply "Maegi" to the people of Lannisport who visited her for her cures and love potions.[2]

Presumably their eldest son, he became a wealthy merchant who was later elevated by Lord Tytos Lannister, becoming a petty lord and the founder of House Spicer.[1] He went on to have two children, Ser Rolph and Sybell Spicer, as well as a nephew, Ser Samwell Spicer.[3]

House Spicer's wealth led his daughter, Sybell,[4] to marry Gawen Westerling, lord of ancient but impoverished House Westerling.[2] This has made the younger generation of Westerlings poor marriage matches due to being descended of upjumped merchants.[4] Through his daughter Sybell, he is the grandfather of Jeyne Westerling, who married Robb Stark, the King in the North.[3]
