Walda Frey is the only child of Edwyn Frey and Janyce Hunter.[2]
History
[edit]According to Merrett Frey, it is common knowledge in the Twins that Black Walder Frey has slept with his older brother Edwyn's wife and Walda's mother, Janyce Hunter, among others.[3] Black Walder's illicit relationships may cast doubt over the paternity of many of the younger Freys, including Walda.

[edit]On his way to Oldstones to ransom his nephew Petyr Frey from the brotherhood without banners, Merrett Frey thinks that Petyr may be Lord of the Crossing one day, as Petyr's older brother Edwyn has no sons, and his other brother Black Walder only has bastards. However, when Merrett arrives at the rendezvous, he is shown Petyr's hanged body, and is himself hanged soon afterwards.[3]
A Feast for Crows
[edit]After his father Ryman Frey is hanged by the outlaws, Edwyn mentions that with their father dead, only he stands between Black Walder and the Twins.[4]

Notes
[edit]As of A Dance with Dragons, Walda would be second in line to inherit the Twins according to standard succession, following her father Edwyn; she would be in line before her uncle, Edmyn's younger brother Black Walder. When Freys have discussed their line of succession in A Song of Ice and Fire, however, they have omitted daughters.[5][3][4]
