A menagerie is a private collection of captive animals, frequently exotic, kept for display.
Known menageries
[edit]Braavos
[edit]The Sealord's menagerie, located in the Sealord's Palace in Braavos, is renowned throughout the known world.[1] Braavosi ship captains bring queer animals from around the world to the Sealord's menagerie.[2]
Lannisport
[edit]Lannisport's menagerie used to include a grey elephant, but the animal died when Tyrion Lannister was seven years old (either 280 AC or 281 AC).[3]
Pentos
[edit]Magister Illyrio Mopatis has a menagerie in his manse that includes a panther.[4]
The menagerie of the Prince of Pentos includes a pride of lions.[5]
Behind the scenes
[edit]Real-world menageries are considered to be the ancestors of modern zoos.
