The outer yard of the Red Keep, also called the outer ward, is a yard in the Red Keep.
Layout
The outer yard is found near the main gate of the Red Keep and near the serpentine steps.[1][2] Stables are found near the outer ward.[3]
History
Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and her spouse, Prince Daemon Targaryen, landed in the outer yard of the Red Keep during the fall of King's Landing.[4] A stable in the outer ward was emptied of horses and used to house Syrax, Rhaenyra's dragon.[5] During the Hour of the Wolf, Lord Cregan Stark, Hand of the King to Aegon III Targaryen, passed judgement on condemned men brought up from the dungeons to the outer ward.[6]

Tyrion Lannister and his squire Podrick Payne walk amid the Tyrell canvas and silk pavilions in the outer yard while traveling to the Tower of the Hand to visit Tyrion's father, Lord Tywin.[2]
Queen Cersei Lannister details the plans for the wedding feast of King Joffrey I Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell, where the middle and outer wards would be tented in silk for those who could not be accommodated inside the Great Hall.[7]

During the wedding of King Tommen I Baratheon and Margaery, an intoxicated Cersei, who had fifty pots of wildfire from the Alchemists' Guild placed in the Tower of the Hand, interrupts the feast to have the attendees accompany her outside to the outer yard, so that Lord Hallyne of the alchemists can burn the tower.[8]
