Pycelle's chambers are the residence of Grand Maester Pycelle within the Red Keep.
Layout
[edit]Pycelle's suite of rooms is located beneath the rookery of the Red Keep,[1] near the lower bailey.[2] The spacious, airy rooms of the Grand Maester has a maze of racks filled with herbs, potions, and salves, and his shelves have numerous books and scrolls.[2][1] Pycelle has a solar.[3] The bedchamber has a bed with heavy curtains and a soft blanket, as well as a hearth. A thin wooden door leads from the bedchamber to a hall.[4]
Pycelle's serving girl attends to the Grand Maester's needs.[3][4]
Recent Events
[edit]A Game of Thrones
[edit]Lord Eddard Stark visits Pycelle's solar to ask the Grand Maester about the passing of his predecessor as Hand of the King, Lord Jon Arryn. Pycelle's serving girl fetches them sweetened ice milk.[3]
A Clash of Kings

While visiting Pycelle at dawn, Tyrion Lannister steals a bottle from the various potions when the Grand Maester is busy with his ravens.[2] Tyrion uses the fine powder to poison his sister, Queen Regent Cersei Lannister, indisposing her by keeping her on the privy.[4]
Having realized that Pycelle has been giving confidential information to Cersei, Tyrion takes Shagga and Timett to confront Pycelle in his chamber at midnight. Shagga hacks through the door, and they find Pycelle naked in bed with his servant girl. With help from Shagga, Tyrion intimidates Pycelle, who wets the bed in fear of the clansmen. While Shagga shaves off Pycelle's signature white beard with his axe, Tyrion learns Pycelle has betrayed the realm over and over in service to House Lannister. After Pycelle is taken away to the black cells, Tyrion examines the Grand Maester's quarters and takes a few more small jars.[4]
A Storm of Swords
[edit]During Tyrion's trial for the murder of King Joffrey I Baratheon, Pycelle testifies that Tyrion had stolen numerous poisons from his chambers, including the strangler. Varys confirms Tyrion's theft of poisons and potions at midnight.[5]
Pycelle tends to the screaming Ser Gregor Clegane, who was poisoned by Prince Oberyn Martell during their trial by combat.[6]
A Feast for Crows
[edit]Queen Regent Cersei allows the dying Gregor to be moved from Pycelle's chambers to Qyburn's care in the dungeons.[7]
A Dance with Dragons
[edit]Varys has Pycelle killed in his chambers. When Ser Kevan Lannister arrives at Pycelle's supposed summons, Varys has his little birds kill the new regent as well.[1]
