The Stone Crows are one of the mountain clans who inhabit the Mountains of the Moon, in the Vale of Arryn.
History
[edit]In 97 AC, Stone Crows killed the father and brothers of Jeyne Arryn, leaving her to become Lady of the Eyrie.[1]

A group of Stone Crows led by Gunthor son of Gurn encounter Tyrion Lannister and Bronn in the Mountains of the Moon after they leave the Eyrie. They threaten to kill Tyrion and Bronn, but Tyrion manages to win them over by promising them weapons, armor, and glory, in return for their help.[2]
Stone Crows led by Conn and Shagga are among the near three hundred clansmen who accompany Tyrion as he leaves the mountains, while Gunthor stays behind to raise the other clans.[3] A Moon Brother stabs a Stone Crow over a sausage, so three Stone Crows slit the Moon Brother's throat in the night. Ulf demands blood money in return, but Conn and Shagga refuse to pay.[4] Conn invites Tyrion to eat oxmeat with the Stone Crows by their cookfire.[4]
Stone Crows fight in the battle on the Green Fork under Tyrion, with Conn being slain in the fighting.[4]
A Clash of Kings
[edit]The group continues with Tyrion to King's Landing, and Tyrion instructs that they be garrisoned separately from the Moon Brothers in the barracks beneath the Tower of the Hand.[5] They guard the tower[6] and eat in the Small Hall.[7] Shagga aids Tyrion in intimidating Grand Maester Pycelle.[7]
Before the Battle of the Blackwater, Tyrion send Stone Crows into the kingswood to harass and harry Stannis Baratheon's army as it approaches the city.[8] They are so effective at killing Stannis's scouts and outriders[9] that he remains blind to the Lannister and Tyrell force that comes upon him from the kingswood.[10]
A Storm of Swords
[edit]After the Blackwater, Shagga and his clansmen remain in the kingswood.[11]
In the foothills of the Vale's mountains, a village elder tells Sandor Clegane that Gunthor led Stone Crows in raiding a village half a year ago, killing half the men, kidnapping every woman, and stealing all the grain.[12]
