Barthogan Stark, also called Barth Blacksword, was the Lord of Winterfell and the head of House Stark during the reign of King Daeron II Targaryen.[1] He was the fourthborn son of Lord Cregan Stark, the third by his last wife, Lady Lynara Stark.[4]
History
[edit]Barthogan became Lord of Winterfell after the death of his brother Jonnel, who had no issue.[1] The death of Lord Cregan's eldest son and heir, Rickon Stark, was lamented for years because of the troubles that plagued the reigns of his younger half-brothers. During the reign of King Daeron II Targaryen, when Barthogan was Lord of Winterfell, the Skagosi rose up against Winterfell in a rebellion that lasted years and claimed thousands of lives, including Barthogan's own.[1]
Barthogan Stark was buried in the crypts of Winterfell, with the traditional stone effigy to mark his place.[2] He was succeeded as Lord of Winterfell by his younger brother, Brandon.[4]

[edit]While hiding in the crypts of Winterfell after the sack of Winterfell, Bran Stark sees the tomb of Barthogan Stark, along with the tombs of the Lords of Winterfell who ruled before and after him.[2]
