Castamere (pool)

Castamere is a pool in the northern westerlands. The ruined castle of Castamere is named after the water.[1]
Geography
Castamere is a crystalline blue pool fed by a small, swift stream. House Reyne built their castle of Castamere beside the pool.[1]
History
During the Reyne-Tarbeck revolt against House Lannister, the Reynes retreated to their largely-underground castle, Castamere, after the defeat of the Tarbecks. To prevent the Reynes from escaping, Ser Tywin Lannister had his host destroy the gates of their castle. The Lannisters then dammed the stream which fed the pool of Castamere, diverting the stream into House Reyne's mines. The Reynes subsequently drowned underground, and the Lannisters burned their buildings on the surface.[1]
