Gwynesse Harlaw is a noblewoman of House Harlaw. She is a sister of Lord Rodrik Harlaw.
Character
Gwynesse is seven years older than her brother Rodrik.[2] She still grieves the loss of her husband in Greyjoy's Rebellion, and has become forgetful.[2]
History
Gwynesse's husband died in the sea battle off Fair Isle during Greyjoy's Rebellion in 289 AC.[2] Following his death, Gwynesse returned to Ten Towers, where she has remained since. One of the towers of the castle was renamed the Widow's Tower in her honor. She believes that the castle should be hers since she is older than Lord Rodrik Harlaw, and constantly reminds her brother of this.[2]

A Clash of Kings
Alannys Harlaw, wife of Lord Balon Greyjoy, has moved to Ten Towers to live with her sister Gwynesse, as Harlaw is less raw than Pyke.[3]
A Feast for Crows
Lord Rodrik Harlaw tells his niece, Asha Greyjoy, that his sister Gwynesse continues to mourn her husband but has become forgetful.[2]
A Dance with Dragons
After fleeing the kingsmoot on Old Wyk, Asha briefly visits Gwynesse and her mother, Alannys Harlaw, at Ten Towers before sailing for Deepwood Motte. Gwynesse maintains that Ten Towers should belong to her.[4]
