A Game of Thrones
Jacks accompanies Lord Eddard Stark to King's Landing when Eddard is named Hand of the King.[2]
Varly and Jacks make up the escort for Eddard when he visits the armorer Tobho Mott and discovers Gendry, one of King Robert I Baratheon's bastard children.[3]
A Clash of Kings
Jacks, having presumably been imprisoned during the arrest of Eddard Stark, is presumably sent with Ser Cleos Frey when the envoy returns to Riverrun with Tyrion Lannister's terms and Eddard's bones.[4]
Jacks is under the command of Hallis Mollen.[5] When Catelyn Stark's party returns to Riverrun from Storm's End, she orders Hallis and a small honor guard to escort the silent sisters who are to bring the bones of Lord Eddard back to Winterfell.[6] Unbeknownst to Catelyn, however, ironmen led by Victarion Greyjoy have already moved to take Moat Cailin, and Theon Greyjoy is on his way to take Winterfell as well.[7][8]
A Storm of Swords
Hal continues north toward Winterfell with Jacks, Quent, and Shadd.[9]
A Feast for Crows
Hallis and his party continue their journey.[10]
A Dance with Dragons
At Winterfell, Barbrey Dustin, Lady of Barrowton, tells Theon Greyjoy that should Ned Stark's bones emerge from the Neck, the escorts will be prevented from going north of Barrowton.[11]
