Lord Ashford was the Lord of Ashford and the head of House Ashford during the reign of King Daeron II Targaryen. Lord Ashford had two sons, Ser Androw and Ser Robert, and a daughter.[2] In A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, he is portrayed by Paul Hunter.
Appearance and Character
Lord Ashford was a big bald man with a round red face.[2]
History
In 209 AC Lord Ashford organized the tourney at Ashford Meadow for the thirteenth name day of his daughter. The Lord of Ashford gave his chambers to Prince Baelor Targaryen, Hand of the King, during the tourney.[2] According to a semi-canon source, Lord Ashford hoped to curry favor with Baelor by hosting the tourney.[3]
Alongside princes from House Targaryen, Lord Ashford watched the competition from a viewing stand. His sons, Ser Androw and Ser Robert Ashford, were defeated in the lists but competed nobly against Ser Tybolt Lannister and Ser Lyonel Baratheon, respectively.[2] Lord Ashford enraged Prince Aerion Targaryen by declaring Ser Humfrey Hardyng the victor of their bout and awarding him Aerion's courser.[2]
This tourney entered history by becoming the theater of the first trial of seven in more than a hundred years. Mud landed on Lord Ashford and his daughter when Ser Duncan the Tall shook the defeated Aerion before the viewing stand. Baelor Breakspear was slain during the trial.[2]

Baelor: I remember Ser Arlan of Pennytree. He never won a tourney that I know, but he never shamed himself either. At King's Landing sixteen years ago, he overthrew Lord Stokeworth and the Bastard of Harrenhal in the melee, and many years before at Lannisport he unhorsed the Grey Lion himself. The lion was not so grey then, to be sure.[2]
