Ser Lucas was the son of one of the Caltrops who died at Second Tumbleton. Lord Unwin Peake, one of the Caltrops, named Lucas Commander of the City Watch when he became Hand of the King. To replace the men who had died during the Winter Fever and the Moon of Madness, the Hand bestowed gold cloaks on five hundred of his own men. Lucas remained as Commander of the City Watch after Lord Peake resigned as Hand.
Ser Lucas supported the attempted coup by Ser Marston Waters, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. Lucas and his gold cloaks of over two thousand men kept a firm grip on King's Landing. When Lord George Graceford was questioned about this, he named Lucas a conspirator, along with six of the seven captains of the city gates. When men came for him, a short, savage battle was fought at the Gate of the Gods, leaving nine dead, Lucas among them.
