Skahazadhan
The Skahazadhan is a major river of central Essos.

Geography
The Skahazadhan begins in the southeastern Dothraki sea and flows southwest through Meereen into Slaver's Bay. South of the river are Lhazar and the red waste. Cities on its tributaries include Vaes Mejhah, Krazaaj Has, and Kosrak. A tributary also flows through the Khyzai Pass near Meereen.[1]
The Skahazadhan is a slow river with brown water near Meereen. The Meereenese use it for waste and instead drink from deep wells.[2] Pike are found in the river.[3] Warden of the River is a title granted to Meereenese officials monitoring the Skahazadhan.[4]
History
After the death of Scarb, Ben Plumm fled Meereen by escaping through the sewers which empty into the Skahazadhan.[2]
Recent Events
A Game of Thrones
While attacking a city of the Lamb Men, the khalasar of Khal Ogo themselves come under attack by Khal Drogo's khalasar and are defeated. Drogo claims the the Lhazareen of the settlement belong south of the river bend instead of in the Dothraki sea.[5]
A Clash of Kings
After Drogo's death, Daenerys Targaryen leads her small khalasar into the red waste, avoiding the lands of the Lamb Men south of the river.[6]
A Storm of Swords
To resolve the siege of Meereen, Daenerys sends a group into the the city by infiltrating the sewers.[7]
A Dance with Dragons
During the second siege of Meereen, galleys from Qarth and New Ghis and a carrack from Tolos seal off the Skahazadhan,[8] and two iron legions are to land north of the river to block Meereenese access to the Dothraki sea.[9]
The Wise Masters of Yunkai set up slave pens and an auction block on the southern shore of the river, where it meets Slaver's Bay.[10]
After Daenerys, now Queen of Meereen, disappears from Daznak's Pit, her bloodriders are sent in search of her north of the Skahazadhan.[11] King Hizdahr zo Loraq styles himself Master of the Skahazadhan.[11] Skahaz mo Kandaq declines the ancient office of Warden of the River.[4]
