Layout
From the terrace, Daenerys Targaryen has a view of the whole city of Meereen and its surrounding area, including the Temple of the Graces and nearby areas of the Skahazadhan, the dry brown hills, the orchards, and the fields of the city.[1]
The garden is directly connected to Daenerys's bedchamber through terrace doors, allowing her to step out at any time of the day or night.[1] There is a terrace pool which serves as Daenerys's bath. She bathes regularly in its cool water, while little fish nibble at her arms and legs. A persimmon tree, which is visible from the pool, seems to serve as a favorite spot for birds.[1][2]

A Storm of Swords
After her successful siege of Meereen, Daenerys Targaryen has the bronze statue of the harpy pulled down from atop the Great Pyramid, and she begins residing at the apex of the building. One night, Missandei finds Daenerys in the terrace garden, from where they watch the sunrise together, holding hands.[1]
A Dance with Dragons
Daenerys's dragons know where she is living in Meereen. She finds Viserion on the terrace coiled around a pear tree with his head resting on his tail.[3] Rhaegal is captured on the terrace when he is basking in the sun.[2]
One night, Daenerys is unable to sleep, so she leaves her private chambers and heads to the terrace garden, where she decides to bathe alone in the terrace pool. As she is bathing, Daenerys hears a noise and sees Quaithe standing below the persimmon tree. Daenerys wonders how an intruder could get past her guards. Quaithe replies that she "came another way", stating that the glass candles are burning.[2]
