The Torrentine[1][2][3] or Torentine[4] is a river in western Dorne.
Geography
[edit]The Torrentine is formed by the confluence of two rivers near Blackmont in the western Red Mountains.[5] Its sweet and pure waters come from mountain springs. A fast river passable only by bridge, the Torrentine has a series of rapids, waterfalls, canyons, and crevasses. High Hermitage is found along the river. The Torrentine flows into the Summer Sea at Starfall.[1]
The Greenblood, the Brimstone, and the Torrentine are the only rivers of Dorne which never go dry.[1]
History

The founder of House Dayne is said to have raised Starfall on an island at the river's mouth, having tracked a falling star there. The Daynes ruled as Kings of the Torrentine from the days of the First Men[2] until the defeat of King Vorian Dayne in Nymeria's War.[6]
There were reports that Rhaena Targaryen and her dragon, Dreamfyre, were seen as far south as the Red Mountains and the canyons of the Torrentine during her search for the missing Aerea Targaryen.[3]
