The wedding of Dickon Tarly and Eleanor Mooton takes place in 300 AC, with Dickon Tarly marrying Eleanor Mooton at Maidenpool.
Prelude
[edit]The town of Maidenpool, seat of House Mooton, is sacked multiple times during the War of the Five Kings. After the battle at Duskendale, Lord Randyll Tarly and Lord Renfred Rykker march on Maidenpool and take the town. Randyll locks Lord William Mooton in a tower and secures the kingsroad.[1][2][3] King Tommen I Baratheon signs a pardon for Lord Mooton and welcomes him back into the king's peace.[4]
To ensure Lord Mooton's loyalty,[5] Randyll arranges for William's eldest daughter and heir, Eleanor Mooton, to wed his own heir, Dickon Tarly.[6]
Wedding
[edit]While traveling the Duskendale road during their search for Sansa Stark, Brienne of Tarth and Podrick Payne meet an old farmer and his younger wife who are bringing an oxcart with eggs to Maidenpool so that cooks can make cakes for the wedding. When they arrive at Maidenpool, the Serrett serjeant at the gatehouse attempts to take the eggs of himself and tells his men to bring him the farmer's wife. Brienne objects, causing the guardsmen to surround her. Ser Hyle Hunt intervenes, however, and sends the farmers on to the market to find Lord Tarly's steward.[6]
The thirteen-year-old Eleanor marries Dickon.[7]
