Shadd is a member of the household guard sworn to House Stark of Winterfell.
Recent Events
[edit]A Clash of Kings
[edit]Shadd is one of the twenty guardsmen who accompany Lady Catelyn Stark south to meet with Renly Baratheon and Stannis Baratheon. He complains about stiffness in his back, stirs oats into a kettle, and brews tea after finding nettles.[1]
Catelyn's party sets up camp outside Storm's End, and Shadd slices carrots into a kettle.[2] During the journey back to Riverrun, Brienne of Tarth helps Shadd cook and clean game.[3]
Catelyn orders Hallis Mollen and a small honor guard to escort the silent sisters who are to bring the bones of Lord Eddard Stark back to Winterfell.[3] Unbeknownst to Catelyn, however, ironmen led by Victarion Greyjoy have already moved to take Moat Cailin, and Theon Greyjoy is on his way to take Winterfell as well.[4][5]
A Storm of Swords
[edit]Shadd continues north toward Winterfell with Hal, Jacks, and Quent.[6]
A Feast for Crows
[edit]Hallis and his party continue their journey.[7]
A Dance with Dragons
[edit]At Winterfell, Barbrey Dustin, Lady of Barrowton, tells Theon that should Ned Stark's bones emerge from the Neck, the escorts will be prevented from going north of Barrowton.[8]
