Jorah Mormont was Lord of Bear Island before exile ended his place in the North. Knighted for valor during Greyjoy’s Rebellion, he later fled Westeros to escape punishment for trading in slaves and worked as a mercenary in the Free Cities. His service to the last Targaryens brings him close to Daenerys Targaryen, whose cause becomes the center of his divided loyalties.
